All about Minecraft’s Caves and Cliffs part 2 update
Minecraft fans all over the world are so excited to hear from Mojang after a year of preparation for the newest update. The Caves and Cliffs saga continues to shock the players because of the amazing features added to the game. Now that the game development company released the second part of the update, it is time to see what is in store for you:
- Increase world height and depth
Before this update, the sky and earth have definitive limits. For one, you cannot add more blocks after a height axis of Y = 256. On the other hand, reaching a depth axis of Y = 0 is the last layer or bedrock of the world.
With the Caves and Cliffs part 2 update, the maximum height and depth are now Y = 320 and Y = -64, respectively. This opens new possibilities for players because they can build taller buildings and monuments. Aside from that, digging deeper will give them the chance to create new cave passageways for easier mining.
- New biomes
New biomes mean more adventures! Here are other additions that you can explore thanks to the new update:
Deep dark caves
Deep dark caves spawn at Y = -1 and are considered as one of the dangerous underground biomes. This is because there is no source of light in the area, and it is impenetrable by lava.
With the deep dark caves, further exploration will lead you to a change of scenery and spot unique new blocks. The ancient cities biome is the home to the newest hostile mob known as the Warden.
Aside from dangerous underground biomes, the lush caves even things out because of their beautiful setup. Vines of glow berries and unique spore blossoms are the defining features of this biome. Additionally, a nice soft light illuminates the area and provides a fairy-like environment.
In addition to the swamps, there is an addition called the mangrove biome. Entering the area will reveal new types of trees and friendly mobs such as frogs!
- Better boating experience
Boats are your main transportation to travel to different biomes fast. Along the way, you would often stop for a fishing break or treasure hunt. With the items and resources you have gathered, you can finally store them inside a chest that you can place inside the boat! This allows you to store more than usual.
- Safety within the light
With the new Caves and Cliffs update, all hostile mobs will only spawn on areas that do not have a light source. This means that holding a torch or placing it on the ground will prevent these monsters from spawning in your area. Additionally, this means that there is a high possibility that the caves are raided with a lot of zombies, skeletons and creepers since this area is often dark.
